1. Mortar and surface inspection: We check mortar condition, identify the type of staining (efflorescence, biological, rust, hard water), and flag any spots where the mortar is too compromised for cleaning until repointed.
2. Test patch: On older or historic masonry, we test the cleaning solution and pressure on an inconspicuous spot first. Brick varies enormously by age and origin, and one recipe doesn't fit all.
3. Specialized cleaning: We use masonry-specific detergents and controlled low pressure — never aggressive blasting. The goal is to lift staining without degrading mortar or eroding the brick face.
4. Neutralize and rinse: Masonry cleaners are typically acidic or alkaline and must be neutralized before they fully dry. We rinse thoroughly to prevent the cleaner from leaving its own residue.
